Design Inspiration - Martha O'Hara Interiors

I'm sure you're seen Martha O'Hara's design work all over the blogosphere but her work is so amazing I knew I had to feature her work.  I love the design work she did on this house, it's like she designed it with me in mind.  Enjoy the eye candy!

I would have totally dismissed the wallpaper in the two bathrooms above, but don't they make a stunning statement.  It's high impact done well.
A hint of yellow and red... genius
Nailhead, Linen and dark wood floors

OMG look at the kitchen

I don't normally like a blue bedroom, but this is ultimate serene bedroom

I would LOVE LOVE to work here, I love the paint color.  Can you believe that it's the same paint in both rooms?

Are you drooling yet?  Because I sure am.

FRIDAY QUICKY: BRITISH INVASION

Hello from across the pond,  Christin here reporting!  I'm writing today while Jeanette is busy gearing up for a move and other design projects.

This Friday quicky is all about the Brits! So to kick off the weekend I thought we would start with one of our favorite boy bands, One Direction ....you (or the closest tween to you) may know of them?!?!  Haven't heard of them?  Well here's a video of one of their biggest hits, One Thing. If this doesn't make you love the Brits maybe some of the fabulous finds below will.
If my house was a tad bigger (and I didn't have a toddler running around) I would LOVE to have one of these classic phone booths!  What a FUN and fabulous statement piece! Turns out they are a very hot commodity across the pond as they have just recently completed a HUGE renovation of all of the booths in preparation for the Olympics!  I found a great site (listed below) where you can purchase one of these booths and even customize it as you like it!  If you need something a bit smaller and your looking for a simple, yet unique way to incorporate a bit of British flair try this one of a kind, hand-painted mannequin!
Need a POP of color?  Look no further than the Queen for a rainbow of colorful inspiration! One of my favorite finds are the gorgeous Royal Mail stamp rugs.  They are shown below as a group but are sold separately. They come in a variety of sizes and can be used on the floor (or even better) on a wall as a piece of art! I'm also loving the re-finished dresser.  It's classic Union Jack with a TWIST! Just looking for a simple (single) bright idea?  Try one of these amazing Karen Hilton pillows.
If you are as inspired as I am to bring a little British invasion to your home well don't give up!  Just ask my friend Harry from One Direction what a little perseverance and a lot of British charm will do.

DISH ABOUT GISH

I'm sooooo thrilled to finally introduce my design assistant, Christin Gish!
She's actually been helping me for a few months now. If you've been following this blog awhile, you know that she's responsible for some of my latest blog photos and she's also my niece!  Not only is she beautiful inside and out, she's also extremely  talented with photography and  an AHmazing writer.  (See way below)

She's done a little TV work and is a natural in front of the camera, as well as behind the camera. Christin wasn't schooled in interior design, but if you could see her house, you'd know she's capable of pulling together a great look.  Trust me, some of the most educated designers don't have the knack for putting a great look together.  Before I started practicing design, I hired a designer for one of my very first homes(a cajillion yrs ago).  The designer  brought along her "degreed" associate designer.  The associate came up with the most AWFUL design ideas and needless to say, the lead designer fired her that week.

Christin helps me mostly with photographing my work, and doing all my computer stuff on the website/blog.  Other times she might be grabbing fabric samples, collaborating design with me or  meeting vendors.  And thanks to cyber world, most of her work is done from her home in San Antonio!

She's so fun to work with and without futher adiou, I'd love for you to welcome Christin!

"My name is Christin and I am a wife who is desperately learning to cook for a husband who LOVES to cook; mother to a handsome little toddler named Tommy and 2 yellow labs, Duke & Delta; and middle sister of 3 girls who talk every day, probably 10 times a day.

I was born in Houston but grew up in San Antonio. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma where I received a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. I like to say I'm Texas born but SOONER bred. In February 2006, I moved back to San Antonio where I met my darling husband Rob just a few weeks later. After four years in the corporate world (and a new addition to our family in 2010) I decided it was time for me to finally scale back from working full time and enjoy some of life's precious moments with my little man, Tommy.

I have always had a small crush on photography but over the past year it has developed into a love affair.  In my spare time I love to photograph and blog about my little world.  Visit my blog www.growingupgish.com to take a peek!

I'm thrilled to be working alongside someone I love and, more importantly, someone I admire in the design world.  When you step into any home Jeanette has touched you immediately feel a sense of relaxation and beauty.  Only after you kick up your feet and look around do you realize all of the amazing little details that truly make each house a home.  She is beyond talented, incredibly resourceful, wildly creative and at the end of the day just a good ole' Texas beauty!  If you haven't had the pleasure of working with Jeanette I would highly encourage you to do so.

Thanks so much for reading!"

THANKS CHRISTIN FOR THE KIND WORDS!!!
HOPE YOU'LL GIVE CHRISTIN A BIG SHOUT OUT AND WELCOME HER ABOARD!

ALL THE BEST,

Home Improvement Products

Home Improvement Products cover a wide variety of needs and uses. The basic idea behind shopping for these items is to create a better home that is personalized, comfortable and attractive. Home improvement items can be DIY items that allow homeowners to upgrade their homes or simple items that just make a home look better.

Home Convenience

Many home improvement products are created to make daily life more convenient. Storage items such as storage ottomans, closet organizers, shoe racks and shelving are made to give members of the household a better way of storing items. With things put away in their own space, it is possible to find things quickly and to keep the home less cluttered.

Convenience items include under-counter shelving that makes it easier to store cleaning products. It also includes over-door organizers, Lazy Susans for the cabinets and extra shelving that can create more storage space in closets and pantries. With the right convenience products, the entire family can help keep the home organized with less effort.

Home Décor Items

Home décor is more than just a necessity for keeping a home’s value steady. It is one of the fun parts of having a home and, for many, buying these items is an engaging hobby. Décor items include window coverings, lighting fixtures, art for the walls, rugs and other items that make each room more enjoyable.

Shopping for décor products often begins by looking for items that are missing from each room. Are there areas that are bland and unused? Are there spaces that could be better utilized if they were prettier and more comfortable? For some rooms, an accent furniture piece may transform it into a space that is usable for more than one activity. A craft organizer in the dining room can create a space to do crafts as well as to eat. A bench in the bedroom can give you a conversation area without taking away from the sleeping space.

Outdoor Living Products

For many people, their outdoors spaces aren’t as well taken care of as their indoor spaces. To improve your outdoor living areas, look for home improvement products that will enhance both the home and your style of living. A hot tub is a large investment, but it will be both fun to use and will add some value to your home. Other popular outdoor improvements include outdoor lighting, patio furniture, awnings and flowerpots.

Outdoor landscaping significantly improves a home’s value, and that can be accomplished with a few simple gardening tools and seeds. Items such as flowerbed edging and garden statues can be purchased online for the final touches to your landscaping.
