Modern Meets Rustic

Written By Unknown on Monday, November 5, 2012 | 10:18 AM

The Patterson Project is still being finished and I cant wait for the day I can have Christin over there to shoot pics when we get furnishings moved in and the house complete.....soon soon!  My client and I are still designing & purchasing  the furnishings, and are almost finished with the bedrooms.  Now we're trying to come up with the ideas for the open living room/dining room area.  We've almost got the dining room side figured out, and now are about to tackle what furniture we'll do in the adjacent living room.
Here's my client's inspiration photos.   The look we're going for is what we  call , "Modern meets rustic", and we'll take a few aspects of each of these photos and mix them all together into one room:

As you can see, we like cowhides, modern lines, rustic woods , taupes, greys, black, whites  fabrics, white walls,  and a touch of modern graphic fabrics.
Will let you know what comes out of the melting pot of inspiration photos on our shopping journeys.  We have the best of times daily hunting Joss & Main,  outlets and other stores, always on the lookout for the best deals.  The thrill of the hunt!
We will most likely mix in furniture pieces from Worlds Away, Four Hands Home, and the LOFT Home.

Check back with our updates coming soon!

On the VW home front, I'm still trying to get our new place in order.  Will share some interior photos soon, but for now, here's an update on the exterior happenings:

As you can see, we added the front porch, in front of my office and the guys are now putting in the stone porch floor.  In the backyard,  Friday our pool guy dug the pool in one day and by Sunday it was complete with all the rebar.  Jorge of Dreamer Pools in Austin has been our go-to pool guy for the last few yrs and he's always a fast , awesome pool builder.  He says we'll have gunite in the pool on Wednesday!
The design will feature a shallow beach on one side for chairs, then the pool graduates into deeper water that ends  on the other side, where it will be about 18-24" large flat boulders of rocks with water spilling through them.  If you've ever walked a Texas creek (think Bee Creek or the Frio River), this is the look/feel we wanted  in the boulder area.  Where you can walk from the patio onto the rocks that are in shallow clear water and feel like you're stepping into a creek, not a pool!

Regarding my last post on the awful bill we received.  The contractor reduced the amount somewhat.    Oh well, you live and learn in home projects.
I felt bad even exposing it online, because they are nice people!  But you can't be taken advantage of either and should always speak up, if you feel something was billed in error.

Hope you have a great week!
