Tick, tock, tick , tock..... the new year is approaching quickly!
"2o ten" wasn't so bad....the economy got better and people's attitudes became more positive.
This week is a time to cherish the past to embrace the future.

I'm excited about the new year and positive about new beginnings. We'll be launching our pet bed line...
..and more pillows!

Today I'm hoping to inspire you with great tablescapes, decor & fashion for your New Year's Eve (NYE) soiree, whether it's cozy by the fire with your honey, shooting fireworks with the family or out on the town with friends.

First of all, you've got to have "the outfit" for the night, right?
If it's a party night out, then NYE just begs for "dressy":
and you can still order this in gold, black or white sequined & express ship! Click on this link HERE.
I personally love to wear black with gold and love to wear hats.
I think adding a black velvet hat to the gold sequin dress would be fun....
Here's a pic of moi, wearing black & gold, in one of my fave old vintage hats I cherish. I wore it on Christmas Eve to a friend's house this year & big hats just make me happy!
....they just put you in that party spirit! If you don't have a velvet hat, then don some fun party hats:
Now, if your NYE is just a casual night at home with your honey &/or the kids, then maybe you just want jeans, boots, fun black T-top and a sequin scarf?
Here's a classic black sequin scarf from Luxe and Lavish
...and if you're staying home watching Dick Clark's countdown and want to be cozy, then here's the outfit!
Both can be purchased in Austin at The PJ Shop.

If you're having a party at your house, then try to rush ship these great stickers you can apply to the walls or your wood floors:
You can find them HERE.

Take down the Christmas mantel decor and make this ez decoration out of silver garland:

Now, traditions are fun during the holidays & important to our family. I thought you might enjoy some of the following ideas we love.
In honor of our family's English side, we have English Crackers at the table during the holidays:

If you want to know how to create these cute English Crackers from Centsational Girl, click HERE.
The tablescape above reminds me of the colors of some pillow covers I've got in the store! Check these out:

You can see more of the pillows in the store HERE.

Back to NYE traditions.....
My grandmother Stella's family were some of the original Spanish descendants from the Canary Islands . In honor of Stella, here's a Spanish tradition for children on NYE to bring them good luck all year long:
Fill a champagne flute for every child older than 3 , with a dozen of grapes.
Then they eat one grape for every chime at midnight.

If you're just wanting to make it simple with a special someone or maybe another couple, then just simply wine and cheese is nice. Make it fun with plates in a NYE theme :

If you're having some bubbly for your guests, then here's some great festive ideas for the bubbly presentation:

If you'd like a diversion from champagne, serve Moscato Asti type wines or Prosecco. Some people prefer them for dessert only, but we love their crisp bubbly taste any time.
For NYE or other special celebrations with bubbly, I love to make this EZ & elegant hors d' oeuvre:

CAVIAR TORTE
(created by Dorothy Duder, published in Gourmet Magazine , May 1995)

6 hard-cooked eggs, chopped fine
3 TBSP.mayo
1 lg. sweet onion (such as Vidalia), chopped fine
8 0z. pkg. cream cheese, softened
2/3 c. sour cream
4 oz. jar black lumpfish caviar

Garnish: thin lemon slices

Accompaniment: pumpernickel and white toast points

Lightly oil an 8" springform pan. In a bowl stir together eggs, mayo, salt and pepper to taste and spread mixture evenly on bottom of prepared pan. Sprinkle onion over egg mixture to cover. In a small bowl whisk together cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. Drop dollops of cream-cheese mixture over onion and spread carefully (keeping onion layer intact)and evenly. Chill torte, covered, at least 8 hours and up to 1 day.
Just before serving, run a thin knife around edge of pan and remove side. Transfer torte to a serving plate and carefully spread caviar over top.
Garnish torte with lemon slices and serve with toast points. Serves 10-12.

Yummmy!!!!

Oh yes, and you have to have some beautiful candlelight on NYE for that midnight bubbly! My SIL just gave me this fab candle at Christmas called Bubbly, from Soular Therapy:
The smell is divine for anytime of the year, but it truly has a "bubbly" champagne smell! Would make great candles for Valentine's Day too!

Have a fun NYE, but please be cool and keep it safe.
