SNEAK PEEK INTO MY KITCHEN

Written By Unknown on Monday, March 19, 2012 | 5:38 AM

We had our photographer, Christin Gish, here this weekend and took loads of pictures of our house. In the coming days, I'll share more photos, but here's a sneak peek!
(remember you can always enlarge a photo by clicking on the photo)

Notice from the bottom picture that we used to have standard niches on either side of the fireplace. The fireplace was a cut stone surround with a wood mantel ledge. We had our carpenter create stained cedar cabinets in a green/grey stain for the niches, and added chunky iron handles I found on EBAY. The fireplace was recreated with rubble rock and we added a cut wood mantel.
We also repainted the whole room. The color used to be a gold, and now it's a builder's grade white. I needed to save $ on the painting budget, so we left the existing trim in BM Navajo White.

In the kitchen we took out the dated light fixture over the island and added pendants by Circa Lighting. We also added a breakfast bar onto the island by adding a stainless steel bar at the left edge of the island. (it's barely visible in the upper picture)
The island is distressed in BM's Fieldstone. The granite top was too $ to replace, so we worked with the granite colors and now like it alot better.

The wood & iron lighting above the breakfast table and the dining table we added from Four Hands Home.

More house pictures will be coming soon and hope you'll stay tuned for more reveals!
